Gateway (your list):
Message board posts are automatically sent to a corresponding mailing list, if the mailing list and board administrators both agree to the gateway.
.Message Board:
A script on a website with a submission form that allows visitors to post messages on a website for others to read. These messages are usually sorted within discussion categories, or topics, chosen by the host, or possibly the visitor. A message board is also called a "web board" or a "forum."

Allow Messages from Message Boards
To facilitate activity on your list and assist your subscribers in their quest for genealogical information, list administrators can request that the gateway between their list and the paired message board be opened.
Opening the Gateway:
Prior to establishing a gateway between a message board and mailing list, each administrator must approve the gateway. To verify approval, we ask that the administrator requesting the gateway forward the communication between both administrators, showing their consent.
Once approval from the message board administrator has been received, the list administrator will need to e-mail messageboards@rootsweb.com with the following information:
- Copy of the board administrator approval
- Name of the mailing list
- Name of the message board
When you select this option, you will be allowing posts from the message board to be sent to your subscribers.
RootsWeb.com staff will e-mail the gateway's requestor once the gateway is established.
If this option displays "Message Board postings are currently allowed," the gateway has already been established.
Closing the Gateway:
Once a gateway has been established, either administrator has the option to close the gateway. To close the gateway, either the list administrator or board administrator will need to e-mail messageboards@rootsweb.com with a request to close the gateway.
The list administrator will need to uncheck the "Allow Message Board Postings" option on the List Tools "Custom Settings" page. Hereby, closing the gateway on the mailing list side.
RootsWeb.com staff will notify the administrator requesting the gateway to be closed when the request is completed.
