WHERE NOT TO POST QUERIES

The RootsWeb HelpDesk and staff, including the RootsWeb Review editor, are not able to answer individual questions on genealogical research. Queries will not be answered; postings to message boards designated for other purposes will be deleted.

SUGGESTIONS WHERE TO POST QUERIES

Here are some options you may want to consider.

Post your query to a mailing list
RootsWeb hosts over 22,000 mailing lists, as of June 2001. You can find an index of the mailing lists at http://lists.rootsweb.com/  Join a list sharing your surname, topic, or general interest and then post your query. Researchers helping each other is one of the best tools available.

Post your query to Web site or message board
Every USGenWeb Project and WorldGenWeb Project site gives you the option of posting queries, at no charge, on their pages. Post your query at the site/sites most appropriate for your research.

RootsWeb's message boards include national, international, and special projects you can post at. Click here to access the message boards area.

Surname Helper is at http://surhelp.rootsweb.com/srchall.html and it is another site hosted by RootsWeb that has a searchable database of queries and surname registrations. Participating sites include some USGenWeb Project and WorldGenWeb Project sites; some managed with CCHelper, and some not.
